Following the public consultations held in February and September 2019 on proposals for a Park & Ride at Alwoodley Gates we have considered all of the feedback provided and used this to inform the design process.
We have now submitted a planning application for the proposals and you can see the details including plans and information online at https://publicaccess.leeds.gov.uk/online-applications . The application number is 20/05006/FU . You can also provide comments on the application or sign up for email updates at the same link.
Information on the expected environmental impact is available here .
If you have any comments on the application please provide feedback though the planning process at https://publicaccess.leeds.gov.uk/online-applications .
In February 2019, we held a public consultation about proposed changes along the route between Alwoodley and Leeds, including a section of Harrogate Road covering the junction with Potternewton Lane. In total 64% of people responding to the consultation were in favour of the proposals.
Following the consultation, we have considered the feedback and made changes to some of the proposals for this section in response to the feedback we received.
We are now working to finalise the plans for construction later in 2020. You can now see the latest plans on our update page .
As part of Connecting Leeds vision to transform travel across the city we have continued to develop our plans and have revised these in response to the feedback we received to our consultation earlier this year. Thank you for all the feedback you provided.
We are now able share our latest proposals for a Park & Ride site at Alwoodley Gates and for Scott Hall Road between Potternewton Lane and Buslingthorpe Lane. The updated plans are available to view at

We’re seeking views on proposals to improve bus journeys and junctions between Harrogate and Leeds via Alwoodley. Buses on the A61 between Leeds and Alwoodley face delays of up to 13 minutes. Our improvements could help to eradicate this, making buses more reliable and attractive.
We have contacted you as you have previous signed up to alerts on this scheme. We have updated our plans to improve bus service reliability for this route following public feedback we have received and additional analysis we have undertaken.
Our plans now include proposals for King Lane and Stonegate Road which did not form part of the original consultation.
The consultation also includes plans to build a Park and Ride facility at Alwoodley Gates.
Please take a few minutes to read these updated proposals. They show the latest improvements along this route, how these have changed in response to your feedback. You can also find an update on the bus lane proposals we consulted on during October 2018.
View our plans and feed back on them online or attend one of our drop-in events:
We are also planning improvements in Harewood to the A659 The Avenue junction. These proposals are available here .
Your feedback is needed please by the deadline of 15 March 2019 .
If you have any questions regard Connecting Leeds, please contact the team directly via email at connectingleeds@leeds.gov.uk .
How can you help?
Thank you for taking part in the consultation earlier in year and providing valuable feedback on the route from Alwoodley into Leeds through Moor Allerton, Moortown, Chapel Allerton, Chapeltown and Sheepscar, and the proposals for a new park and ride facility at Alwoodley Gates.
We have taken your feedback into consideration and have carried out further analysis and work on the proposals along the corridor. We aim to come back for further public consultation with our updated proposals to make bus services quicker and more reliable on the route in late 2018 or early 2019 but we have identified three specific improvements that could be delivered more quickly, so that the benefits can be seen earlier.
You can view the proposals and provide feedback at https://a61nqtc.commonplace.is/overview . The deadline for feedback is Saturday 20 October 2018.
We have also arranged two public drop in meetings for you to view the proposals and ask the team any questions you may have.

A series of events has already been held across the city. These focused on what the first phase of the Connecting Leeds strategy and the bus infrastructure along the three key routes into the city, which are also covered by the consultation websites:
Alwoodley to Leeds via Moortwon, Chapel Allerton and Chapeltown
Oakwood and Roundhay to Leeds via Harehills, Sheepscar and St James’s Hospital

Members of the Connecting Leeds team speak to members of the public at an event in Chapeltown (10/03/18)
The events and online survey have been accompanied by communications through social media, printed media and our partners' networks channels.
We have distributed nearly 20,000 leaflets and posters in community, religious, leisure and health centres across the city. Over 150,000 people who live and work in the city have received emails inviting them to take part and have their say.
The opportunity to comment on the proposals for this phase is open until 13th April, but this is just the beginning. Further events will be taking place in the summer relating to the city centre, two more key bus routes and plans to deliver more park and ride spaces at key locations.
